AI at TrialConnx

How AI works at TrialConnx.

Two ways to ask about startup work. Both answer from the studies you can already see, and each is enabled for your organization by request.

In one minute

Ask in plain words. Get an answer from your own studies. Keep the decision.

Inside TrialConnx

Talia

Ask about a study in plain words and get an answer from the studies you can already see.

AI connections

The AI tool your team already uses, signed in as you, seeing what you see and nothing more.

An example

Which activities are overdue in this study, and who owns the next step?

The question a study manager asks before a startup meeting. Here is how each path handles it, on example data. Your studies will look different.

Inside TrialConnxTalia
Example

Which activities are overdue in this study, and who owns the next step?

Three open activities are past their due date.

  • Budget negotiationJames Casedue Oct 14Working on it
  • CTA legal reviewPenny Bdue Oct 20Pending review
  • IRB response letterMoe Ldue Oct 23To-do

Talia reads and reports. You open each activity and confirm the date, status, and assignee before you act.

From your AI toolAI connection
Example

Show the overdue activities in this study and their assignees.

Found three open activities past their due date:

  • Budget negotiation, James Case, due Oct 14.
  • CTA legal review, Penny B, due Oct 20.
  • IRB response letter, Moe L, due Oct 23.

The same question from a different place. The connection sees only what you can see.

A permitted next stepAI connection
Example

Add this comment to Budget negotiation: "Budget review is scheduled for Friday."

Only when your organization allows updates and your account has the permission. Example only: open Budget negotiation in TrialConnx and check whether the comment was saved.

  1. 1Ask the question in plain words.
  2. 2Open the activities it found.
  3. 3Decide the next step with your team.
  4. 4Record it through your normal permissions.

Illustrative. These panels show how each path is meant to handle the question on example data. Not a recorded session.

Inside TrialConnxEnabled by request

Talk to your studies.

Talia is the assistant inside TrialConnx. It answers questions about study startup from the data your account can see, and it points you at the records so you can check.

What you can ask

  • Where a study stands: find a study and see its stage, its status, and what is open.
  • What is late or blocked: the activities past their due date, waiting on a review, or marked as blockers, and who is assigned to each.
  • Where the handoff sits: who is assigned, and how long that handoff has sat.
  • How a study is moving: progress through its stages, and where the time went.
  • Across studies: which stage is slowing this quarter against last, and how two studies compare.
  • Your own work: what is assigned to you and what is due.

Questions to start with

  • "Which activities are overdue in this study, and who owns the next step?"
  • "What work is assigned to me in this study?"
  • "Which stage took the most time in this study?"

Examples. Talia also offers quick actions on a study, such as Overdue activities, and a question library you can search.

How it answers

In a sentence, a table, or a chart, depending on the question and the data. You can ask a follow-up in the same conversation.

What Talia will not do

Talia cannot change a record. It has no way to edit an activity, assign work, or post a comment. It is built to report on study startup and told not to invent facts. That is how it is designed, not a guarantee, so it asks you to check important answers. The data it searches is a synced copy of your studies, so an activity edited a few minutes ago may need a fresh look. The activity record is where you confirm what is current.

Talia is enabled for your organization by request.

From your AI toolSet up with us

Bring the AI tool your team already uses.

Some teams already do their daily work in an AI assistant. TrialConnx can connect to it, so the same questions can be asked from there.

What a connected tool can do

  • Find work: your studies, activities, inbox, and counts.
  • Understand a study's setup: statuses, priorities, fields, and history.
  • Review context: comments, documents, the study team, and reports.
  • Make bounded updates, when your organization allows them: create or update an activity, relate activities, add a comment, or manage your own reminders.

How the connection works

TrialConnx publishes a set of tools that an AI assistant can use on your behalf, through Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI tools to software. The assistant signs in with your TrialConnx account, so it can look up the studies and activities you are allowed to see, and no others. It works with assistants such as Claude Code or Codex.

Questions to start with

  • "Show the overdue activities in this study and their assignees."
  • "Show the recent comments on this activity."
  • "Add this comment to this activity: Budget review is scheduled for Friday." (needs update permission; then check the saved comment in TrialConnx)

Who decides

A connection is set up with us for your organization. Your organization chooses whether the connection can only read or can also update activities. Every request is checked against that policy and your own permissions at the moment it is made, so a tool never gets more than you have.

Ask us about connecting your AI tool and what access it should have.

Data and permissions

Your organization decides. Your permissions apply.

The part your security office reads first.

Off until you ask

Talia is enabled for your organization by request. An AI connection is set up with us and governed by your organization's policy. Teams that do nothing keep the regular TrialConnx views, unchanged.

No wider access

Talia and a connected tool answer from the studies and activities your account can already see. Neither one widens access. Your TrialConnx permissions apply to every question and every change.

Where your data goes

With Talia enabled, the question and the study text needed to answer it are processed by an AI model service, and search runs on a synced index of your study text. A connected tool receives the results of the tools it calls, under your own agreement with that tool's vendor.

What is in scope

TrialConnx is a study operations platform, not a clinical data system. The Security page says what is out of scope. What your team types into activities and documents is what Talia can read.

Changes follow the same rules

A change made through a connection goes through the same application rules as a change made in the app.

The examples on this page are labeled. A recorded answer is added after we capture it on a demo study.

Security at TrialConnx

For your IT reviewer
  • Sign-in: your TrialConnx account through OAuth; single sign-on and multi-factor paths supported where your organization uses them.
  • Policy modes: read-only, or application permissions with an explicit list of allowed updates.
  • Checks: organization policy and your permissions are rechecked on every request; session limits apply.
  • Tool groups: studies, activities, your inbox and counts, reminders, comments, documents, users and groups, reports.
Getting started

Start with one question on your own studies.

1

Ask us to enable Talia for your organization.

2

Try the overdue question on a study you are working on, and open the activities it finds.

3

If your team works in an AI tool, ask us about connecting it and what access it should have.

What's next for AI at TrialConnx.

From answers to action.

Today, AI at TrialConnx answers questions. Next, it helps your team act, with a person deciding every step. Not in the product today.

  • Rules that move work along

A finished activity hands off the next one. An overdue one sends a follow-up. A document goes where your rule says. Your approvals, full history, no AI required.

  • Assign an activity to an agent

An agent you can assign or mention collects status or drafts a follow-up, within the permissions you set. A person approves the result.

  • Talia writes the first draft

A study summary before the meeting, and follow-ups you review and send. Only where your organization enables AI.

  • Act from where your team already works

Take a handoff in Teams or Google Workspace, with a link back to the activity and quiet hours you control.

Also on the list: setting up a study from the documents you already have.

Common questions

What teams ask before they turn it on.

Both paths are optional and off until your organization asks.

Do we have to use AI to use TrialConnx?

No. Talia and AI connections are off until your organization asks for them. The regular views, reports, and workflows do not change.

Who turns it on?

Your organization. Talia is enabled by request. A connection is set up with us, and your organization sets its policy.

Can Talia change an activity, and can a connected AI tool do that?

Talia cannot; it has no tools that write. A connected tool can create or update an activity, relate activities, or add a comment only when your organization allows updates and your account has that permission.

Which AI tools can connect?

Assistants that support Model Context Protocol, such as Claude Code or Codex. Ask us about yours.

What data reaches an AI provider, and what should our team check before enabling access?

With Talia enabled, the question and the study text needed to answer it are processed by an AI model service, and search runs on a synced index of your study text. With a connection, your AI tool receives the results of the tools it calls, under your agreement with that vendor. Before enabling either, check your organization's policy on AI processing and decide whether a connection may read only or also update.

Can we see it on our own studies before deciding?

Yes. Ask us for a demo on a demo study first, then try the overdue question on your own studies once Talia is enabled.
